48 imagesLightpainting is the technique of using a small hand-held light, usually a flashlight, to light a subject during a long exposure. It gives the photographer enormously subtle control over the way the subject is lit, but does require that the subject remain relatively static during the exposure. Boris Zuliani went two times to Lijiang in Yunnan province of China to portrait a serie of ethnic people living there. He used that technique to create oniric and poetic atmosphere. Combined to old out of dated polaroid, the photographs have a deep "cachet".

41 imagesThe Longsheng Rice Terraces are located in Longsheng County, about 100 km from Guilin, Guangxi, China. The most popular are Ping An Rice Terrace and Jinkeng Rice Terrace. The terraced fields are built along the slope winding from the riverside up to the mountain top, the highest part being 880 m in elevation while the lowest part is 380 m. The terraced fields were mostly built during the Ming Dynasty, about 500 years ago. Longji (Dragon's Backbone) Terraced Rice Fields received their name because the rice terraces resemble a dragon's scales, while the summit of the mountain range looks like the backbone of the dragon. This has also in relation of asking help for the God of Rain. These man-made rockets are made up of decorated bamboo and gunpowder. Meanwhile, due to advent of technology, rockets are being made by glass, metals and different sorts of lighting effects though some people preferred using the traditional and timely useful bamboo. 19 imagesMyanmar, also known as Burma, is more famous for its traditional cultural heritage and political situation than for its booming underground hip-hop scene. Yet, the capital Yangon is home to countless rap groups and graffiti crews, and the hardcore hip-hop culture is immensely popular all over the streets of the city. The following pictures aim to give an overview of this reality often ignored by mainstream media

77 imagesHà Giang is a highly mountainous region containing the northernmost point of Vietnam, and sharing border with China. Boris has been riding his bike in this magnificient province since 2006. He immediatly started to capture faces on 4x5 inches Polaroids, giving those back through the magic process Polaroid instant films offer : most of the time, these unique prints were given to the locals he met along the road (some of them did never even see their picture), leaving a trace of his apparition. Without speaking any language, using gestual and other forms of communications, Boris goes through intense meetings with his encounters, sharing a part of his work all along his path.

58 imagesBút Tháp Temple (Vietnamese: Chùa Bút Tháp, hán tự: 寧福寺) is a Buddhist temple located near the dyke of the Đuống River, Thuận Thành District, Bắc Ninh Province, Vietnam. The temple is also popularly called Nhan Thap Temple. The temple houses the biggest Avalokiteśvara statue with one thousand eyes and a thousand arms. But Thap Temple is one of the most famous pagodas in Viet Nam. Inside, there are various valuable ancient objects and statues, which are considered to be Vietnamese masterpieces of 17th-century wood carving.[2] During the same time the temple had become famous for the venerable abbot and Zen master Chuyet Chuyet ("thiền sư Thích Chuyết Chuyết") 1590 - 1644. The pagoda has 10 buildings spreading for 100 meters from the three-entrance gate to the bell-tower and back house.Inside the temple are more than 50 statues of different sizes including the Triad Buddha, Manjusri (Van Thu) on a blue lion and Samantabhadra (Pho Hien) on a white elephant. The most remarkable is the thousand-handed and thousand-eyed Guanyin, which is described as a sculptural masterpiece of Vietnam. The architecture, sculpture and decoration of the temple were exclusively confined to the 17th century, so it was the best intact and typical example of Vietnam’s classical Buddhist art. 52 imagesSituated about 185 km from the coast, the Côn Đảo Islands are an archipelago of Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu Province, in the Southeast region of Vietnam. During the French colonial era, the island (then named Poulo-Condore) was made infamous for its penal facilities and the notorious "tiger cages". Vietnamese nationalists were sent here to serve their sentence for anti-French activities. The prisons were also used by the South Vietnam government during the Vietnam War and many Vietnamese Communist leaders were "schooled" on Côn Đảo Island as well. Many of the islands were given protected status in 1984 as part of Côn Đảo National Park. This natural preserve was subsequently enlarged in 1998. Endangered species protected within the park include the hawksbill turtle, the green turtle, dolphins, and the dugong. (source: Wikipedia)

21 imagesHanoi, Vietnam. 2009. End of the Vinh Tuy bridge construction. In February 2005, Hanoi launched the construction of Vinh Tuy bridge with a total investment capital of VND 3,600 billion to help ease the pressing issue of transport and communication in the capital, reducing the traffic flow in Chuong Duong bridge, contributing to completing the city's belt road No 2 and creating more favourable conditions for development of new urban areas by the two banks of the Red river.
